II-VI Incorporated welcomed Mr. Nguyen Tam Chien, Vietnam’s United States ambassador, to its worldwide headquarters in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania on August 31, 2007.

While at II-VI, Ambassador Chien met with II-VI executive management and discussed our Vietnam manufacturing facility, which produces components for our VLOC near-infrared subsidiary, and our Marlow Industries thermoelectric subsidiary. Also during the meeting, Fran Kramer, president and chief executive officer, presented an overview of all II-VI products and processes. And following the presentation, Ambassador Chien was given a tour of the Saxonburg IR fabrication and metrology facilities that are replicated in our Vietnam plant.

Larry Nitoski, director of Asian Manufacturing for II-VI said, "We were honored to have Ambassador Chien and two counselors from Vietnam visit with us today. While our manufacturing operations in Vietnam are only two years old, they already have become an important driver of our growth and profitability plans for our near-infrared optics and Marlow Industries businesses. Today's meeting, which was enabled by the efforts of James Wolf from the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, gave us the opportunity to review our progress in Vietnam and to discuss ways that the ambassador could help us accomplish our goals in that country."
