On July 12, 2007, II-VI Infrared’s Bob Ireland (vice president, technical marketing and sales) and Gary Herrit (senior optics design engineer), along with II-VI Japan’s Hidekatsu "Dj" Matsuyama (sales manager) and Yasuhiro "Saki" Sakakibara (president of II-VI Japan) met with senior personnel at the Nagoya Works headquarters of Mitsubishi Electric Corp., one of the world’s leading CO2 laser system OEMs. During the meeting, Bob and Saki -- on behalf of II-VI -- received a “Certificate of Appreciation” award presented by Mr. Hiroaki Katayama, the deputy manager of Mitsubishi’s laser division. The award, given for II-VI’s valuable contribution to Mitsubishi’s laser systems production, set the tone for the rest of the meeting, which strengthened the ongoing and mutually-beneficial partnership between our company and theirs.
All units from Mitsubishi’s laser division were in attendance, including high-power resonator and system design and manufacturing, low-power resonator and system design and manufacturing, and via hole system design and manufacturing. During the meeting, II-VI representatives presented a review of our company’s worldwide organization and capabilities. They also answered questions from Mitsubishi representatives regarding our company’s MP-5® ultra-low absorption lenses and output couplers, beam converters, diamond-turned plano copper mirrors, DLC-coated windows, scan lens assemblies, and variable-radius mirrors (VRMs).
The depth and breadth of our company’s line of industry-leading CO2 laser optics is a perfect compliment to the diverse range of Mitsubishi’s high and low-power CO2 laser systems, assuring continued cooperation between our two companies well into the future.
